Disappointed at being duped by pretty pictures that are clearly not up to date, would not stay here again or recommend. Positive: The location of the property was excellent, 5 min walk to the shops, and near a park for young children, and the size of the apartment was sufficient for my family. Negative: Unfortunately the property is in need of a major refurb and new furnishings. The pictures do not show the threadbare, and worn through sofas, that appeared to be soiled and dirty. The “yellow/ochre” spinning chair in the lounge was brown with stains. The brown staircase carpet was filthy, worn, holes, and horrible to walk on if you did without shoes. The white walls and woodwork were filthy and in need of a repaint. The shower in the main bedroom isn’t fit for purpose. I had read that it was small in height and was prepared for that, but the dirty and small shower curtain does nothing to stop the floor getting soaked, a custom shower screen is required. The wall tiles were converted in mould, and there was broken floor tiles and a broken cabinet door under the sink. The bathroom wasn’t the worst, but you can’t have a standing shower, with the pull out shower head, and the holes are all blocked or broken which made the water spray everywhere. The bed in the second bedroom squeaks every time you turn over which kept my daughter awake. The fire extinguisher in the kitchen appears to be empty as per the gauge. I’m angry that I didn’t see a further bad review, or I wouldn’t have booked. Booking.com filter their reviews to be all the good ones at the top, and not in date order, my fault for not checking the dates fully, but to avoid anyone else being caught out.

Super Windermere stopover Positive: Great location with easy walking access to Windermere & Bowness. Parking on site was good too. The apartment was bright & airy and well equipped, with plenty of space & very comfortable for a short stay. Negative: Slightly tired in places. The main bathroom needed a proper shower & the en-suite bathroom needed a complete revamp … the shower curtain arrangement wasn’t really effective !!

Negative: Two steep flights of stairs - not fun with heavy suitcase
